The fist smart label by Publix:
A visual aid that helps reduce food waste by illustrating the food
aging process.
Each year, more than a third of the food we produce in the entire world goes to waste. In high income countries 10% of the waste occurs in supermarkets.
Ripe is an electro-chromogenic plastic label that changes its color to illustrate the ripeness of the product.
Our stores will assign automatic discounts to products depending on which color they're at, reducing food waste while increasing sales and allowing consumers to save.
Additionally, the color of the label acts as a visual aid to help consumers reduce food waste at home.
